Latte

It’s easy and affordable to make your own specialty coffee drinks, right in your own kitchen! Today, we’ll show you how to make one of the most popular coffee drinks—the latte.

First, let’s steam the milk. You always want to do this step before brewing the coffee, as the milk tends to “hold” a little better than the coffee. You don’t need a fancy steamer.

Heat 1 cup in a 2-quart saucepan over medium heat. Let the milk simmer until bubbles form around the edges, but don’t let it boil. Remove the pan from heat and set it on a flat surface.

Next, whip the milk with an electric mixer, increasing the speed as it begins to thicken. Continue mixing until you get the desired volume of froth. If you are making just one latte, you can also heat your milk in the microwave.

Microwave on high one to one and a half minutes or until hot but not boiling. Then just beat the milk, increasing the speed as it begins to thicken.

Now it’s time to brew the coffee. Use 2 tablespoons of Folgers® French Roast per 5 to 6 ounces of water. Folgers French Roast is a great choice for specialty drinks. Its strong and robust taste is a great espresso substitute. Once the coffee is finished brewing, it’s time to make your drink.

For the basic latte, combine 3 ounces of espresso coffee with 7 ounces of steamed milk. You can add extra flavor to your latte by using assorted flavored syrups, or flavored milk like chocolate or vanilla. So sit back, relax, and indulge yourself in one of life’s simple pleasures.
