CINCINNATI, March 13, 2003—Folgers introduces Cappuccino—the latest trend in a growing creamy coffee segment. According to Information Resources Inc. the creamy coffee segment has grown 10% over the past two years, while the overall coffee category grew at 2% during the same time period. So what are creamy coffees? Creamy coffee, which comes in various forms such as cappuccino, latte and mochas, is a powdered form of coffee plus "built-in" additives such as milk and sweetener.
As reported by the NCA 2000 drink trends survey, over 60% of consumers "doctor" their coffee with additives. Max Rangel, Folgers Marketing Director says, "Folgers is committed to offering our consumers the most innovative coffees that meet their busy lifestyles. The great thing about creamy coffees like new Folgers Cappuccino is that you simply add hot water and enjoy the delicious taste." The convenience and great taste of Folgers Cappuccino will surely make this a favorite in your cup!
Folgers Cappuccino will begin appearing in a 16 oz. size in retail outlets nationwide throughout March. A coupon will be dropped May 4, 2003 to invite consumers to try Folgers Cappuccino. Folgers will introduce some established favorites such as French Vanilla and Mocha Chocolate. These flavors in conjunction with two new flavors English Toffee and Cinnamon Vanilla Nut will complement the lineup. Under the Folgers umbrella there are now three creamy coffee products available: Café Latte®, Folgers Jakada® and now Folgers Cappuccino®.
